The Jeff Carter Show

A helluva goal from Jeff Carter courtesy of Scott Hartnell late in the second period gives the Flyers a 2-1 lead. I get up to go heat some KFC up in the toaster, come back in about 45 seconds, and the score display reads 3-1. I figured it was a typo until the replay of the second Carter goal popped up.

Yep, two goals in 13 seconds from the same guy. The first one was a gorgeous setup from Hartnell, the second a twisted wrister from just inside the blue line. Great game from Carter, especially for those 13 seconds. That's something you don't see everyday, just a great job by the young gun.

And a FANNN-tastic shorthanded goal from Hartnell courtesy of Jim Dowd with less than a second to play would be the final goal, as the Flyers took their second in a row with a 4-1 win over Atlanta. With the win comes another terrific performance from Antero Nittymaki, who came through with 27 saves on 28 shots. He's now started three of the last four games for Philly, winning all three with a GAA of 1.

- Great fight from Riley Cote. Good to see that kind of stuff even with a comfortable lead.
- Those were two of the prettiest goals I've seen in a while (Carter's first and Hartnell's shorthanded one)
- Really upset that Joffrey Lupul is out indefinitely. As one goal scorer comes back (Gagne), one goes down.
- 21-15-4, 46 points, 3rd in Atlantic, 5 points behind Devils (who of course won in a shootout tonight)

The Flyguys have one more road battle, against the Rangers, before finally returning home to face Boston, two games in a row against the Original six. All I want to see is a victory over New York. The division games are the ones that make or break the season.
